Known for his boundless energy, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has established himself as one of the NBA’s top playoff performers, always somehow able to find an extra gear once the postseason rolls around. And while there are likely many factors contributing to the 33-year-old’s playoff performance, it seems pretty likely that caffeine plays a role.
See, in case you didn’t know, Butler is the NBA’s chief coffee enthusiast. He famously carts his pricey La Marzocco Linea Mini espresso machine with him to road games, and he made headlines during the league’s pandemic-borne “bubble” season when he was brewing cups of joe and charging other NBA players $20 a pop for them. Butler dubbed that 2020 side hustle “Bigface,” and eventually he transformed it into a legitimate coffee and lifestyle brand.
Now, Butler’s Bigface has linked up with arguably the most stylish coffee gear brand on the market in Fellow for a new collaborative effort that sees an array of co-branded products hitting shelves. The inspiration behind the collab was Butler’s desire to create the ultimate coffee kit for the road — an area with which he of course has some familiarity.
“I’ve admired Jake (Miller, Fellow founder and CEO) and the Fellow brand for several years now,” Butler said in a press release. “Not only do I own and personally use many of their great coffee products, their commitment to premium design and new innovation is unmatched. I’m excited that this long-awaited, Bigface x Fellow partnership is finally here to share with the world.”
The high point of the collab is a travel kit that includes special Bigface-branded examples of all of Fellow’s key coffee products: the Fellow Stagg EKG Pro Studio kettle, Ode Gen 2 grinder, Tally Pro Studio scale, a pair of Monty Cappuccino Milk Art Cups and the Stagg [X] Dripper Set pour-over kit. The travel kit — dubbed the Limited Edition Ultimate Road Kit — all packs neatly in a custom carry-on-sized, wheeled Pelican 1535 case. Just 20 of the kits will be produced — one earmarked for Butler himself — and they’re priced at a lofty $2,000 each.
But Butler and Fellow still have something for those who aren’t quick enough (or deep-pocketed enough) to snag a travel kit. Each of the items included in the kit (with the exception of the Pelican case) is also being offered as a standalone product, along with a co-branded Fellow x Bigface Carter Slide Mug, all of which are now available for purchase while supplies last.
In addition, Fellow has released a premium limited-edition coffee drop from Bigface that’s also available for a limited time. The 8.8-oz package of Ethiopia Worka Sakaro G1 contains beans from Gedeb and Ethiopia and retails for $45.
